Healthier Candy Cane Mocha

 
 

What can I say? Sometimes I'm SUPER basic and love to get really festive with my coffee. You won't find me glittering my house from top to bottom but you might find a candy cane latte in my hand.

But, can we talk about all the SHIT that is in all of those festive drinks at Starbucks for a minute? EW. I've never been a Starbucks fan. I go there purely out of convenience sometimes. But ordering a specialty drink from that place is on a whole other level. 

Make your own festive drinks this seasons without all the weird ingredients and sugar. Don't support that!

You will need: 

1 cup unsweetened cashew milk (or almond milk, I guess)

1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon honey

a couple drops of vanilla extract

about 1/3 cup of coffee or espresso

a few drops of peppermint extract

Add milk and cocoa powder to a small saucepan and warm over low-heat while stirring until the cocoa powder has dissolved and the milk is warm. Then, add the peppermint extract to the mixture. 

Make your coffee or espresso and then add your honey. Stir and let the honey dissolve before adding in your milk mixture. Enjoy warm! Garnish with a cute candy cane.
