VFILES + Sassoon at New York Fashion Week | Recap

If you've been following along with my travel at all you would know that I attended the VFILES Runway Show in which I was a guest of Sassoon. The streets were filled with beautiful women in unusual and interesting outfits and the restaurants and bars were packed. The winter storm did not slow down this NYFW!

As you know, I have been going to Sassoon Salon in Scottsdale and have been having such an amazing experience with Scottsdale Creative Director, Ben Ko and Assistant Color Director, Tara Forman. Because of this, I couldn’t wait to see the looks that Sassoon would be creating on fashion's biggest stage! Creative Director, Michael Forrey lead the direction of the runway hair styles at VFILES (which were SO 100). And then recreated them on me a few days later. Don't worry, we filmed the WHOLE THING.

On Friday, February 10 the Sassoon Creative Team went live from Times Square in creating several detailed looks for three exciting young designers discovered on the VFILES platforms including the collections from Snow Xue Gao, Daniëlle Cathari, and Strateas Carlucchi.

The VFILES FW17 Show was incredible. These designers are really pushing the envelope and thinking outside the box. Since this was my first show at my first ever NYFW, I really didn't know what to expect BUT I did expect it to be a bit more snooty and unwelcoming. I didn't find that here, though. The VFILES Runway was a very intimate setting (even though it was located in Times Square) and it seemed intentional. Obviously the best thing about the show was the hair styles!

Chicago’s Joey Purp made a debut along with ATL rapper 21 Savage, who closed the show with his hit, “X”. The show highlighted the collections of three up-and-coming lines: Daniëlle Cathari, Snow Xue Gao and Strateas Carlucci, designed by Peter Strateas and Mario-Luca Carlucci. They were selected from thousands of submissions by the VFILES team and a group of mentors, who this season included makeup artist Pat McGrath, stylist Mel Ottenberg and designers Jerry Lorenzo and Tommy Hilfiger. And Sassoon Salon's Michael Forrey lead the direction of the hair styles (did I say that already?).

Daniëlle Cathari presented a very colorful yet sporty collection of ensembles. The ultimate in street-wear if you're feeling adventurous and ... might stop by the gym later. Snow Xue Gao mixed it up with edgy silk pieces while Strateas Carlucci brought back the colorful suit jackets, turtlenecks, and leather chaps.

I had such a fun time with Michael and his team recreating the runway looks after the show! Make sure to stay tuned for the video we created. It's coming SO SO soon.
